it is held on the same tenure as the

I believe that all the

money which has been recently

spent

by the Military Authorities on the purchase of land in Queens Road would be

recovered if it were decided to sell all the other Military property in that part of the City. W. Price

thinks that the ground might even be sold at a profit. The sale of the land in Queens Road would realise

more than would be required for the construction of new Harbour Offices etc.

In which case

The Government would then

be able to consider whether a new market might not be erected on the reclaimed ground, in which case the sale of the present market site would pay for the extension of the Praya.

It seems to be admitted

that the extension of the Praya and

filling in of the foreshore would be a benefit to both the Imperial Government

as well as to the Colony.

It is to be hoped that the scheme can be made to

pay for its execution. I fear it must be indefinitely postponed for the present.
